Our Story.
The story begins with the passion for food and wine, for creating beauty, for deep and round flavours, and for the love of entrepreneurship. I experienced my first Feijoa season in 2014, enjoying a feijoa cider now and then in the months before. Once I encountered fresh Feijoa, I fell in love with its tart, sour and fruity flavour and how it can be transformed.
I reached a point where I wanted to share my craft and the fruits that result from this further than among friends, dinner parties and neighbours, so starting a fruit wine winery was the adventure I set to embark on.
Soon there was a rough plan written, research conducted, more wine made, and a mission formulated, to create beauty and transform assumptions , to enrich New Zealand’s craft beverage scene with a style of wine that has been celebrated around the globe for years but has yet not seen its full potential in Aotearoa.
The following season, I began making fruit wine from Feijoas and was fascinated by how well the flavour of this fruit can be captured and enhanced by using the right methods and techniques.
I took on the lease of a house in Mt Eden in 2016, transformed a spare cellar room into a wine cellar and lab and started extending my knowledge and refining my craft as a fruit winemaker. In the years following I not only perfected my passion and settled into my chosen home of Aotearoa, but also gained more knowledge about business, entrepreneurship and the possibilities that New Zealand has to offer.
